Department Descriptions

Learning Center

If someone can learn to ski or snowboard all of our runs, we venture to say that they can ski or snowboard at any resort in the world. That’s something other local mountains can’t say. Our terrain is unrivaled in Southern California. We run a busy school filled with many beginners enjoying snowsports for the first time, as well as a growing group of intermediate to advanced skiers looking to improve their skills. If you’re serious about skiing or snowboarding, come to teach at Mt Baldy.

First Aid & Ski Patrol

Our Ski Patrol has openings for both paid positions and NSP volunteer positions. If you’re a strong skier with a medical background, we’d like to speak to you about joining our patrol. With expanding operations, we are looking for candidates to stick with us year round.

Food & Beverage

The Top of the Notch restaurant is the coolest restaurant you’ll ever work in. Located at the top of the Sugar Pine Chairlift, the Notch sits overlooking Southern California with the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island as a back drop. Pair that with some tasty food and a micro brew, and you have what we call a #thisisbaldy experience.

Gear Rentals

If you’re into gear, working in the rental shop is the spot. We outfit skiers and boarders with boots, bindings and boards, skis and poles all the live long day.

Grooming

How does sitting at the top of Thunder Mountain after a 2 foot dump in a Pisten Bully with the heat cranked on, listening to your favorite tunes at 4am overlooking the lights of the high desert to the north and the rest of Southern California to the south sound? Pretty rad huh? Well you’ll need to put in some time before you get that gig. We suggest getting up here right away and helping out with vehicle maintenance,  snowmaking and whatever else we need to do to get the mountain open. If you kick ass and are reliable, that could be you pushing blades full of POW at dawn before the rest of the world is awake.

Guest Services

Guest Services Associates & Ticketing Cashiers are at the helm of the mountain. These are the folks that sell the tickets to ride the lift, stay in a tent, take a ski or snowboard lesson… you name it. Candidates for these positions should have a keen mind that is tech savvy and guest orientated. As winter draws near, this crew fields many phone calls and answers a lot of emails.

Lift Maintenance

Lift Operations

If you enjoy being outside, being a Lift Attendant or Operator could be perfect for you. We operate 4 chairlifts at full operation and each of them need workers to keep them moving. As a Lift Attendant or Operator, you will be responsible for the safe passage of our guests as they shred the gnar out on the mountain or enjoy a nice scenic ride up the Sugar Pine Chairlift.

Parking

You’re the first impression our guests have when they arrive, often after a beautiful winding drive and sometimes after some hellish holiday traffic. Warm, welcoming faces is what we like to see in the parking lot. You’ll find that folks have a lot of questions when they get up to the mountain and you’re the one to get them moving in the right direction. All while maintaining a good flow of traffic and clean lot.

Snowmaking

Have you ever heard the expression, “it’ll put hair on your chest?” We’re pretty sure that whomever coined that phrase had snowmaking in mind. Long nights in sub freezing temperatures moving heavy equipment and dragging hoses through the snow is what a night of snowmaking has in store for you. If after reading that you’re still interested, it sounds like your the person for the job. Can you start today?

Tubing Park

Working in the tubing park can be some hard, physical work but it rivals the most rewarding on the mountain. Since Southern California isn’t known for an abundance of snow, we get a lot of guests in our tubing park that have never seen snow or are taking a once a year trip to see snow. You get to guide them through that experience and usually you become their favorite person.

Vehicle Maintenance

Mt Baldy has a nice variety of heavy equipment to keep you on your toes. If you’re a diesel mechanic that likes to ski or snowboard and enjoys a new challenge everyday we would like to have a talk with you about joining the team. Being a good welder is a plus.
